HISTORY OF DOWNTOWN EYECARE
In 1947, Dr. Herman Gurin opened up his own optometry shop in downtown Atlanta on a little street called Forsyth Street. Dr. Herman Gurin ran his practice on his own, making a strong name for himself and his small shop, until 1996 when the business was handed down to his nephew, Dr. Ronald B Gurin. Both doctors worked side by side for many years, building a very loyal patient base that became family. Dr. Gurin's office moved to the Candler Building on Peachtree Street where they hired Jerri Dorta, and stayed for 12 years, taking over the city with remarkable eye care. However, in 2008, a tornado ripped through downtown, devastating the Gurin practice, forcing the business to move back to Forsyth Street. Downtown Eyecare remains here today, and continues to provide all of Atlanta with the best possible vision care and lasting memories.
